Location: ST973882 - S/W corner of Poole Harbour.
Road: Off A351 at Stoborough south of Wareham.
Admission: Parking fee: RSPB members free,  non-members £2.00 per car.  Coaches by arrangement only. A number of guided walks and work parties are held throughout the year - for details send A5 SAE to The Warden, RSPB, Syldtat, Arne, Wareham, Dorset, BH20 5BJ

Features: Attractive heathland by side of Poole Harbour, with reedbed and saltmarsh. Dartford Warbler resident. Nightjar, Little Egret and waders.

Island in Poole Harbour.
Location: SZ025882 - Boats from Snadbanks Ferry and Poole Quay.
Admission: Landing fee (free to NT members) Open April - Sept.
Facilities: Trails and hide.
Features: Attractive island famous for it's population of Red Squirrels. Nesting Common and Sandwich Terns and large heronry. The lagoon is important for waders, including wintering Avocet. Little Egret often present in good numbers.

Headland with Bird Observatory.
Location: Portland is south of Weymouth across Causeway.
Facilities: Self-catering accommodation available at Observatory.
Admission: Free access to paths in general area (observe signs).

Features: Portland juts 5 miles out to sea, and is therefore an excellent migration point for both land birds and movements of seabirds. Pomarine Skua regular in May. Auks (Puffin illustrated right), Fulmar and Kittiwake breed on the cliffs. Regularly produces scarce and rare birds and large numbers of common migrants.

Location: SY677796 - In Weymouth, close to Railway Station.
Facilities: Nature trail, hides and visitor centre.
Admission: Public footpaths. Permit required for hides.

Features: Excellent reserve in centre of Weymouth. Cetti's and other reedbed warblers and Bearded Tit. Wildfowl and gulls (often with rarer species present). Gargeney regular in Spring.
