arrangement only. A number of guided walks
and work parties

Features: Attractive
heathland by side of Poole Harbour, with reedbed and saltmarsh.
Dartford Warbler resident. Nightjar, Little Egret and waders.

Headland with Bird Observatory.
Location: Portland is south of Weymouth across Causeway.
Facilities: Self-catering accommodation available at
Observatory.
Admission: Free access to paths in general area (observe
signs).

Features: Portland juts 5 miles out to sea, and is
therefore an excellent migration point for both land birds
and movements of seabirds. Pomarine Skua regular in May. Auks
(Puffin illustrated right),
Fulmar and Kittiwake breed on the cliffs. Regularly produces
scarce and rare birds and large numbers of common migrants.

Cetti's and other reedbed warblers and Bearded Tit. Wildfowl
and gulls (often with rarer species present). Gargeney regular
in Spring.
